About Us

History

After its establishment, Kukatonon joined UBCAA in 2012 and attended her first UBCAA Convention in July of that year in Minneapolis, Minnesota when Mr. Christian Kolleh was President of UBCAA. Kukatonon hosted her first UBCAA Convention in July 2013 in Des Moines, Iowa under the leadership of Mr. Michael Foday(then Kukatonon President). She hosted her second UBCAA Convention in July 2017 in Des Moines, Iowa under the leadership of Mr. Alphonso Peters(then Kukatonon President). Mr. Sam Sonda was elected UBCAA President at the 2017 UBCAA Convention. In July 2024 Kukatonon hosted her third UBCAA Convention in Des Moines, Iowa under the leadership of Mr. James Mator, current Kukatonon President.

Mr. Caimon Kollie was reelected President of UBCAA at the 2024 UBCAA Convention.

Aim:

Our primary aim is to unite all Bong County citizens residing in the vibrant state of Iowa and their families and friends in the state. Through Kukatonon, we have the incredible opportunity to come together, support each other, and foster a strong sense of community amongst us.

Our shared heritage, values, and experiences bind us together, irrespective of where life has taken us.

As we embark on this journey together, let us remember the importance of unity, collaboration, and empathy. By standing together, we can achieve great things and create a lasting impact in our community.

We strive to uplift and support one another, celebrating our individual strengths and unique stories.

I encourage each and every one of you to actively participate in our initiatives, events, and community projects.

Together, we can build a network of support, friendship, and empowerment that will benefit us all. Let’s make Kukatonon a beacon of hope, unity, and progress for all Bong County citizens in Iowa.

Kukatonon was established on February 12, 2012, to unite Kpelleh people and citizens of Bong County, fostering social connections and assisting members in need, in accordance with its constitution. The founding members are as follows:
